1 ladies and gentlemen

One Self (check it) is chilled-out hip-hop with a smooth exotic edge. Yarah Bravo (the girl) and Blu Rum13 (the guy on the right) have this chemistry about themselves that augment the live experience when they're performing. Most likely has to do with the fact that they're married; they're just talking to each other on stage, bantering in rhyme, and don't really seem to care that we're watching them. They played at UCLA the other day, and it started with very few people but they had such a great attitude about it, and toward the end of the show the crowd at Bruin Plaza had grown to around forty, plus the scores of people who would stop and listen on their way to/from class. Good stuff.

I bought their CD, Children of Possibility, after the concert. Great rhymes, worldly beats, and Yarah's voice is absolutely entraaancing. The CD itself doesn't have a lot of DJ Vadim's solo stuff, but I think he's got a separate thing going on.

The image above is a composite of a photo I took at the show combined with six or seven photos I took in Japan, plus a few sky shots from Chicago and New York City. I was bored and inspired, and Photoshop was calling to me. Unfortunately the final image did not do the concept justice. Sigh.

Oh and hi again... welcome to the new blog.
